Spotlight on Karla Tapia, Powerscreen of California, Nevada, & Hawaii

From Temp to Operations Transformation Assistant – since joining our team, Karla has well and truly made her mark.

As it is International Women’s Day on Friday 8 March, we have decided to shine the spotlight on some of the incredible women who help make our West Coast businesses what they are. 

Meet Karla, Operations Transformation Assistant  

Karla Tapia joined us as a temp in March 2022, working at the busy Dixon location. When Powerscreen of CA, NV, & HI was acquired by Molson Group, Karla was offered the position of Sales Administration, which then lead her to the position of Operation Transformation Assistant. She jumped at the chance and is now a key part of the team, helping us deliver the kind of service that sets us apart from our competitors.

So what is it about her role that means she always has a smile on her face? Karla told us, “I work all day talking to so many different people in different locations. I’m here to help them understand how our systems work and troubleshoot any problems they might have. They just want to get their work done –  and I just want to help them do that. It’s busy and fast-moving all the time, and often I have to think outside of the box to find the right solutions to their problems. I’m constantly thinking about how we can improve things – there’s always a million different ideas going on in my head. The bottom line is that I love a challenge and it’s even better when you see the rewards at the end!”  

We know that our business has always been traditionally very male-dominated, and we wondered whether that’s caused any problems for Karla. She’s quite clear that hasn’t been the case at Powerscreen of CA, NV, & HI. “I actually find it really inspiring to work in an industry where there aren’t many women. We’re leading the way and can definitely use that to our advantage. I’m also excited to utilize my involvement with our Community Champions to support a local Women’s Shelter in honor of International Women’s Day. There is a saying that says, “Empowered women empower women”, and that is what we are trying to achieve here.”
